the rising sun peeks
her arms between
black, storm clouds
echoing, thundering
roars clash
in the distance --
stray lightning
illuminates
the room
followed by
silence
as sunlight shines
into the hazel,
tinted windows
of your soul
I hear your voice
whispering to me
as delicately as
butterfly wings
flutter -- slowly
you move closer
placing your soft
hands on my hips
pulling me toward …

If the sun burns out
If the stars don’t shine
If the moon hangs low
Up in the northern skies
My love for you will never die
If leaves fall from trees
If ocean waters dry
If green grasses fade
Across the countryside
My love for you will never die
If snow melts atop mountains
If lava in volcanoes cool
If icebergs float in warm waters
During hot summers in Shanghai
My love for you…

warm, spring days
in New York City’s
boroughs were
filled with sounds
of children playing
in courtyards –
splashing in puddles
from recently melted snow
plastic bats connected

distance separates,
temporarily –
love connects
two souls
no longer searching
for the missing
pieces their
hearts sought
for decades–
believing to have
found love,
their pasts simply
played tricks –
leaving deep,
hopeless scars –
balance never
existed – until
footprints left
impressions of
two spirits walking
side by side,
through life…

Jo Robinson said… Hi Amanda - good to have a new friend! I love your poetry. I haven't been connected to the internet very long, and I am only finding my way around it - the signal here is pretty bad as well, so just connecting to any site can turn in to a battle of epic proportions. I look forward to chats with you.
klmelillo said… Your nonfiction sounds like fascinating, helpful work that people will really value. I know we all feel stuck sometimes, and although it might be easier to settle than persevere until we acquire what we want settling will never be the most satisfying choice. I hope you choose to pluck it from the shelf and share it sometime. I'll be first in line to make that purchase!
klmelillo said… Hi Amanda,
Thanks for the request, so nice to be connected with you! (My name is Kristen, I probably should have chosen a different user name.) I see you are a poet. What a challenging and exceptional genre. I look forward to reading more of your poetry here. Do you write anything else?
Dear Amanda - Thank you so much for the friend request which I am delighted to accept. My time on the site is extremely limited, but I look forward to enjoying more of your poetry and wonderful photography as time permits.
Wishing you the very best,
